A new site for a new self
I’m finally starting work on a new website (this one) for myself.
I made this decision because the old site was created in 2015, and it has a lot of stuff that isn’t as relevant to me now. I also want to use a design consistent with my personal theming. I could have just revamped the theming on the old site and cleaned some pages up, but since the old site uses Nanoc, which uses Ruby, a language I’m unfamiliar with, I decided to try a different SSG. I’ve chosen to use Lume, as it seems simpler than a full-blown front-end web framework while still being flexible enough to fit my potential needs.
I’m still not entirely satisfied with writing in Markdown, as it doesn’t have a distinction between various HTML tags, such as <em>
versus <i>
versus <cite>
.
